Light From the Rosary (the "back cover")

Here is the "back cover" referred to in Part 3. You will need this diagram in our future discussions.

Good morning, Dr. Thursday,

Have my copy printed out.
Can almost read the little print...

Please pardon- I have a question that is unrelated, but that this diagram brought to mind.

Have only played pool a few times, and although I am not very coordinated, I did manage to make a few shots.
Have you ever played? If so, is it easy for you to figure out how to make a successful shot?

Looking at this diagram, I would bet that you are a natural!

Figuratively speaking, of course!

Pool and its variants use physics. I know (in a general sense) about vectors and momentum, but am quite lousy at applying them with a cue-stick - as it requires the ability to use the eye to measure and the arm to control... ah, this is a good example of how Theory is not Practice, nor does knowing the principle confer the ability...

Also though it looks like a vector diagram, this is NOT a vector diagram. This is what us "finite math" guys call a "graph". (It's in the third part of my paper.)

I am sorry that you are struggling with reading the labels. I will try to make a better diagram. But until then, you can re-label it:

The TOP node shoulod say "G4".
Then going COUNTER-clockwise: G5, J1, J2, J3, J4, J5,
L1, L2, L3, L4, L5,
S1, S2, S3, S4, S5,
G1, G2, G3.

You will find out more about this as we proceed into the text...

Today's mystery word is "blpioqlk" which is a Martian idiom for the dance they do in the "northern" hemisphere at the coming of "spring"... The real word is "Ðçªéþõß" but it's not easy for earthlings to pronounce it, so we say "blpioqlk" instead. Hmmm - actually it's not easy to type either, and I did the best I could with the quasi-ASCII provided.

(And it's not an easy dance to do, but then, as I said, I'm no good at pool either.)

The graph is fine, Dr. Thursday,

I will use my mini-Sherlock with its 3x magnification, and relabel it.
Ten years ago I would have been able to read the print without glasses, & now I wear bifocals :)

No, I'm not very good at dancing-
But I'm very good at "injij"ing!
