Deo Gratias

As 2005 draws to a close, I thought it best to post a final message...

In gratitude - to God - for all the blessings of the years past.

And in supplication - to God - for help and guidance in the years to come.

+

Christus heri et hodie
Principium et Finis
Alpha et Omega
Ipsius sunt tempora et saecula
Ipsi gloria et imperium
per universa aeternitatis saecula.
Amen.

Christ yesterday and today,
The Beginning and the End,
The Alpha and the Omega,
His are the times and the ages,
To Him be glory and dominion
Through the universe of unending ages.
Amen.

Thanks - and to you and yours!

Just in case you don't recognize this prayer: it is from the great ritual of the Vigil of Easter: it is said as the priest notates the CURRENT YEAR and other symbols on the Paschal Candle.

I think it is one of the most moving, and timeless (pun intended) of all the liturgical prayers.
